“Don’t hope that events will turn out the way you want, welcome events in whichever way they happen: this is the path to peace.” – Epictetus.
Many things are beyond our control and life is unpredictable.
And as unexpected events happen we may have thoughts such as “This shouldn’t have happened!” or questioning “Why me?”.
In truth, regardless of what we want sometimes a new path is forced upon us. A path caused by external influences outside of our control.
And in truth, sometimes the only control we have is how we handle ourselves during these times, and as Epictetus says “welcome events in whichever way they happen”.
You see…
“Fate leads the willing, but drags along the unwilling.” — Seneca.
So will you be dragged along against your will, or move graciously as fate has intended?
